Xavier Rombaut (BEL)

Owner of Polar Bear Produce Company

After a career of fifteen years, XAVIER ROMBAUT founded Polar Bear in 2018. His outfit produces premium quality and accessible drama and documentary, as well as factual TV, rooted in challenging local content and targeting global audiences. POLAR BEAR collaborates with both established and emerging talent, translating their vision and creativity to the screen.


Before creating his own label, he was involved in numerous international fiction and documentary projects such as THE CO(TE)LETTE FILM (Mike Figgis), BULLHEAD (Michael R. Roskam), THE ARDENNES (Robin Pront), THE LAND OF THE ENLIGHTENED (Pieter-Jan De Pue) and RACER AND THE JAILBIRD (Michael R. Roskam) as a freelance producer. In 2009, he produced Nathalie Teirlinck’s acclaimed short film VENUS VS. ME (Berlinale, EFA nominee) and in 2016 her debut feature PAST IMPERFECT.


Current titles include YOUNG HEARTS (Anthony Schatteman – Crystal Bear Special Mention at Berlinale), HEARTBREAK FOR BEGINNERS (Bavo Defurne & Yves Verbraeken) and THE AGE OF MAGIC (Peter Krüger). The Dutch co-production THE PUPIL (Karin Junger) will premiere next fall at the Netherlands Film Festival.


Xavier Rombaut is a Rotterdam Lab, Maia, EAVE, EAVE+, ACE and TAP graduate and a VOFTP, EPC and EFA member. His company Polar Bear is part of the PSN network.
