Bojana Nikitović

Costume Designer

Bojana Nikitovic graduated as the Valedictorian of her class, from the Faculty of Applied Arts, Belgrade in 1989. Her work in costume design spans theatre, opera, ballet and film.


She started in theatre where she did more than 100 plays. She was awarded for her work on the prominent Serbian theatre festivals such as 4 Sterija awards, 2 Ardalion awards and Big International Award for Spectacle design at YUSTAT Biennial.


In 2001 she met Milena Canonero and was her assistant on Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, Roberto Faenza’s I vicere and John Johnson’s The Wolfman before taking the lead costume designing role on John Stockwell’s Roadkill. Since that time, her film work has included: Ralph Fiennes directorial debut Coriolanus, John Moor’s A Good Day to Die Hard, Neveldine’s/Taylor’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Roger Donaldson’s November man, Michael Apted’s Unlocked, Scott Hick’s Fallen and James Kent’s The Aftermath, WB production of Krypton as well as Netflix’s Extraction.


Nikitovic’s extensive wardrobe design work for the live performing arts includes the ballets, The Fire Bird, Romeo And Julietand, Majerling. Her Opera work includes that of assistant costume design on Luc Bondy’s Tosca at the Metropolitan in New York. However, most of her work has been in theatre and includes many Shakespeare productions: Romeo And Juliet; Measure For Measure; Hamlet; Troilus And Cressida; A Midsummer Night’s Dream.


Other work includes: Dostojevski’s Crime And Punishment and The Kiss Of The Spider Woman; Dickens’ Oliver Twist; Moliere’s The Hypochondriac, School For Women and The Misantrop. Nikitovic also designed costume for Le Nozze De Figarofor the National Theatre in Belgrade in 2010.
