Iva Šimić Šakoronja

Actress and author

Iva Šimić Šakoronja is a Croatian actress and author. Born in Split in 1994, she is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she spent the first years of her childhood. She grew up in Zagreb and graduated in Acting from the Academy of Dramatic Art in 2017.

She has performed at numerous theatres, including Gavella, Kerempuh, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, the Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik, KNAP, Moruzgva Theatre, Kerekesh Theatre and Mala Scena. Television audiences know her from the series Nemoj nikome reći, Kumovi and U dobru i zlu. Her film credits include the award-winning short Ništa ja tebi ne govorim, samo kažem and Sonja Tarokić’s feature film The Staffroom (Zbornica).

In addition to acting, Iva is also an author. She has co-written several theatre productions, and in 2024, together with Gloria Dubelj, she launched the digital project Iva i Gloria, using humour and satire to comment on contemporary society. In 2025, the project evolved into a theatre production of the same name, which went on to win more than ten awards and became one of the most-watched theatre productions in Croatia.

Her work has been recognised at numerous film and theatre festivals, with awards including Best Actress, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Production and several Audience Awards.

In short: an actress, author, comedian – and someone for whom one stage is clearly never enough.
